Lloyd C. Viles

A man who gave selflessly of his time and knowledge and who loved his family deeply. Lloyd Viles, age 79, of Vancouver, Washington, passed away from complications due to lung cancer on March 28, 2024. Lloyd was born in Pueblo, Colorado in 1944 to Alfred and Dorothy. He was the middle of 7 children. He graduated from David Douglas High School in Portland, Oregon. Lloyd went on to meet the love of his life, Terry, and they married in 1973. Lloyd was employed at Bearings, Inc., which later became Applied Industrial Technologies, from 1976 to 2006 in various capacities, ending as a territory manager. Lloyd enjoyed 18 years of retirement and travel. Lloyd and Terry had two married children, Gayle (Bill) and Brian (Vanessa). Their family expanded through the years to also include 4 grandchildren: Samantha, Travis Avery and Blake. And a year ago welcomed great-grandson, Adrian. Lloyd spent many happy hours coaching and watching his children and grandchildren in various sports and other activities through the years. He was always willing to volunteer to coach or help with practices. And he loved watching sports live and on TV. Lloyd enjoyed many years of volunteer service to the Evergreen Habitat for Humanity organization. He made some good friends in the process, and always had a good time with the build process for the homes he worked on. He was named volunteer of the year in 2017. Lloyd will always be remembered for his kindness and positivity and the way that he was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. He spent time traveling with his wife, just the two of them; as well as taking trips with neighbors George and Marty, and road trips with his good friend Pat. Lloyd also took joy in golfing, fishing, and spending time working in his yard. We couldn't have asked for a better husband, parent, grandparent, sibling, uncle, and will miss Lloyd every day. His memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved him. Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Larry, Dick and Al and his sisters, Janice and Arlene, and is survived by his brother Donald. Donations to Evergreen Habitat for Humanity are appreciated in lieu of flowers. A Celebration of Life will be held May 18, 2024.
