Laura Lynn Smith

With profound love and immeasurable sorrow, we announce the passing of Laura Lynn Smith, a devoted mother, daughter, sister, and friend, who left us unexpectedly on June 1, 2026, in Vancouver, Washington. She was 45 years old. Born in Los Alamitos, California, Laura spent her early childhood in Huntington Beach, where her bright spirit, adventurous nature, and deep love for family first took root. In 1990, she moved with her family to Oregon, settling in Parkrose, where she later graduated from Parkrose High School. During her school years, Laura was a proud member of the Parkrose Swim Team, competing in backstroke and freestyle and earning numerous awards for her talent and determination. Laura went on to attend Concorde Career College, where she earned her Associate’s Degree in Medical Billing and Coding—a field in which she worked with dedication and pride. More than anything else, Laura’s greatest joy and purpose in life was her beloved daughter, Ava Rose. Their bond was deep, tender, and unwavering. Laura poured her heart into motherhood, always striving to create a life filled with love, safety, and possibility for Ava. She cherished her family fiercely. Laura is survived by her parents, Rickey and Diana, her brother Matthew, her sister Carlene Lynch, and her brother‑in‑law Frederick Lynch. She also leaves behind her niece and nephews—Kylee Hunter, and Caden Matthew Lynch—whom she loved dearly. She is remembered with love by her Uncles Robert Georg (deceased) and Saul Mejia of California; Saul’s wife Tracy-Lynn and their daughters Madison and Sofia; her Great Aunt and Uncle Jack and Veida Lawton of Tennessee; her Great Aunt Linday Kutcher (deceased); and cousins Renee’ Mejia, Kristen Beitzel, and Susie Back-Doherty, along with many more relatives whom she held close in her heart. Laura’s circle of friendship was vast—she was the kind of person who made everyone feel welcome, valued, and seen. She leaves behind hundreds of friends who will forever remember her laughter, her loyalty, and her willingness to show up for anyone in need. A lover of adventure and simple joys, Laura found peace and renewal along the Oregon Coastline and Mission Beach, California. She enjoyed traveling, spending time with family and friends, exploring Oregon’s wineries, and embracing any opportunity for fun. Her favorite holidays—Halloween, Christmas, and the Fourth of July—were celebrated with enthusiasm and heart. Laura’s life was defined by love, generosity, and an unshakeable devotion to the people she cared about. Her absence leaves a void that cannot be filled, but her memory will continue to shine brightly in the lives of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished. Ava was the center of her world, the source of her deepest joy, and the person she loved with a fierce, unwavering devotion.
