JUNE R. ENTWISTLE June 20, 1927 ~ July 31, 2013 "June was a very loving, kind and patient person." June R. Entwistle, 86, of Vancouver, WA, passed away July 31, 2013. She was born June 20, 1927 in Lead, SD to parents Emil and Signe Balander. June grew up in Lead, SD where she acquired her love for long outdoor walks. She went to school to become a stenographer and worked for Pierre State House in South Dakota before she moved to Portland, OR in the 1950's to work for USDA where she met her husband John. June quit work to become a full time mother and after her children were older, she went back to work at Clark College Nursing Dept. June and John raised their family in the Hillcrest Nazarene Church where she attended many years and enjoyed her church family and old time hymns. June loved children and being around them; her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and any babies she happened to be in the company of. She enjoyed her weekly visits with John to visit their grandson Cole, an hour away, while he was a child and all the adventures they would go on. June sewed clothes for her kids, loved playing the piano (which she could be found doing many afternoons at home) and playing songs from the church hymnal. She passed on her love for cooking and baking to her daughters, and she always loved to travel and explore new things, enjoying the people she met along the way. June is survived by her husband of 52 years, John; children, Patricia Gilroy (David), Pamela Link (Blaine), John Entwistle (Susan), and Mike Entwistle; grandchildren, Jennifer, Matthew, Mark, Molly, Luke and Cole; great-grandchildren, Amberlie, Sarah, Max, Eli and Ethan; sisters, Phyllis Morris, Francis Rabbe, Lily Thielen; and brother, George Balander. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Eva Roche, Bernice Coldiron, Marie Heikkila; and brother, Bruce Lakson. A private family service will be held Fri., Aug. 9th at Evergreen Memorial Gardens and the family will host a Celebration of Life on Aug. 24th, 2-4p.m. at Northcrest Community Church, 5602 E. Mill Plain Blvd., Vancouver, WA 98661.
