Amy Tams

Amy Christine Tams died on May 2, 2026. She was a beloved mother, wife, and caregiver in the Vancouver, Washington, community. She is survived by her husband of 23 years, Christopher Tams; her sons, Caleb (18) and Logan (16); her sister, Nicole Flores; and her parents, Sandra and Scott Call. Born on January 6, 1972, in Johnson City, Tennessee, Amy went on to live in many places throughout her life, including Maine, Alaska, Utah, Washington, and Ireland. She often joked about having worked a wide range of jobs—from working on a lobster boat to waitressing—before finding her true calling in nursing. Amy earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Washington State University. Amy began her career with PeaceHealth in 2004 as a resource nurse and later found her way to the Intensive Care Unit. After an injury, she sought another way to continue serving in the medical community and discovered clinical education—an area where she truly excelled. The people she educated became her work family, and she loved making a difference in their lives. During the pandemic, Amy worked diligently to help set up and tear down COVID units. In recognition of her dedication to patient care, she received the DAISY Award. Amy met Chris in 2000 in the Tri-Cities, after she was invited to go boating on the Columbia River. Amy was able to overlook Chris’s dog marking her spotless apartment, and a love and devotion grew that lasted until her death. They built a life in Vancouver after she finished nursing school. With the births of their two children, Caleb and Logan, their loving family was complete. Life without Amy is lonelier and incomplete. Amy loved to laugh. She often joked that no one else in the family had a sense of humor besides her. She delighted in the little things—watching Survivor in the evenings, playing board games with her family, sitting by the fire, listening to music, and telling stories. She once had breakfast with Ben Shepherd of Soundgarden—something she loved to share as a favorite memory. Amy’s humor and selflessness will be deeply missed. She will be loved and cherished always by her family and her rescue dog, Bailey. Rest in peace. Celebration of life information will be shared with family and friends in the coming days.
