Steven Eugene Endorf

After a courageous battle suffering the long-term effects of Agent Orange, Steven Eugene Endorf was called to his Savior's side on June 21, 2021, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 8, 1952, in California, the oldest child to Eugene and Mildred (Siffering) Endorf. Steven grew up in Colorado and New Mexico. He was confirmed in his faith in 1965 in Farmington, New Mexico. He graduated from Durango High School in 1970. Then he went to college at Fort Lewis College in Durango, CO. There he met the love of his life, Amelia Matteson. Steve and Amelia were married in 1974 in Colorado Springs. Steven then joined the US Army and served 4 years. They had three children; Elsa, Annaliese, and David. In 1980, Steven went back to college for computer programing. This was the 2nd love of his life. In 1983, Steven moved the family north to Alaska where he worked for the State of Alaska Department of Labor as a computer programmer. In 1995, Steven retried from the State and worked as an independent contractor and moved all over the United States taking short-term programing jobs. Steven also took the time to travel with his family to Kenya, Tanzania, Israel, Turkey, Greece, and many other countries in Europe. Steve & Amelia settled in the Portland area while Steve was waiting for a kidney. In 2003, he was 255 on the Legacy Kidney transplant list. Receiving this kidney gave his family 18 more years to make memories. In those 18 years, Steven became a part of the DAV Chapter 4 and helped many Vets. Steven is survived by his wife, Amelia; children Elsa Endorf, Annaliese Endorf, David Endorf (Amanda); Sisters DeAnne Stenger (John) and Denise O'Brien (Patrick); and his mother, Mildred; and nieces and a nephew. He was preceded in death by his father, Eugene. A Christian funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Thursday, June 24, 2021, at Peace Lutheran Church, Vancouver, WA, with Rev. Gary Kraklow officiating. Interment will be in Willamette National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Peace Lutheran Church, 13112 NE 28th St Vancouver, WA 98682.
