Stella Mae Irvin

Stella Mae Irvin 1932 2013 Stella Mae Irvin loved flowers. She grew them, she studied them, and she arranged them. She had an eye for composition, color, and natural beauty. Giving family and friends the gift of flowers brought Stella great joy. Stella Mae Johnson was born on December 26, 1932 in Astoria, Oregon to Stella Glazier Johnson and Wilmer Johnson of Altoona, Washington. On the day of her birth, her mother and father traveled across the Columbia River in their gillnet boat (in December) to the hospital in Astoria, Oregon where Stella was born. Stella lived on the banks of the Columbia River with her parents and brother, George until she married in 1949. Stella passed away surrounded by her family on January 16, 2013. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Richard Joseph (RJ) Irvin, and son Robert. Stella and RJ lived in Vancouver and were married 36 years. RJ and Stella had four children: Bob Irvin (deceased), Rick Irvin, Bill Irvin (Dean), and Madonna Al-Zaki, 8 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. Stella had a special place in her heart for Grandpa Russell Eager and enjoyed many long friendships with friends like Keith and Pat Bakker. Stella was active in the lives of her children and was very close to her granddaughter Michelle. Stella loved to travel and enjoyed her work at Comfort Interiors and Smokey's Pizza. When Stella became widowed in 1985, she embarked on a relationship with Clark College. She earned her GED and went on to achieve an Associate's Degree. Stella assisted her instructor Jerry Shellar in the floral department and continued to work with students in the Clark College Flower Shop. To our Mom, Grandma Stella, and Dear Friend: We love you and will miss you. We will remember your smiling face, your generous spirit and will see your joy in all things beautiful. Until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand. A memorial service will be held January 25, 2013 at 12:30pm at Evergreen Memorial Gardens, 1101 NE 112th Ave, Vancouver. Private interment will take place at Willamette National Cemetery, Portland, Oregon.
