Ruth K. Hughes

Ruth Kayline Hughes passed away on March 25th, 2022, at the age of 6, at home surrounded by family and friends. Ruth faced many complications from a rare gastrointestinal disorder since birth, which in the end included kidney failure that she was unable to overcome. Ruth was born in Vancouver, WA to parents Hailee and Ray Hughes on November 5th, 2015. She was a kind, caring, and thoughtful child who loved trips to Target with Grammy, Disney movies and YouTube videos, and biking to Safeway with dad. But her very favorite thing of all might have been getting mom and dad ready to leave the hospital the second they were cleared and get back home to play with her siblings Faith, Joel, and Rachel. She wanted to work with animals as a veterinarian when she grew up and loved her cat Snickers. Ruth spent 5 years of her life in and out of hospitals fighting the intestinal issues. She was strong, would rarely complain, and would even help the doctors and nurses with some of the procedures. She loved making coffee for her mom and thinking about what toys and stickers she could bring back to her siblings and her cousins. Family meant everything to Ruth and she was at such peace that she could spend the last couple months of her life surrounded by family and friends rather than stuck in a hospital. Our hearts will never be whole living without her, but we know she has traded the pain for endless joy in heaven with God. John 14:2-3 "2In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also." Ruth's memory will forever be cherished by parents Hailee and Ray; siblings Faith, Joel, and Rachel; grandparents Lori, Rod, Ron, and Dennis; aunties Kim and Jerusha; uncle Ron; cousins Vanessa, Maddy, Emma, and Vaverlyn; as well as many more extended family and friends. A memorial service will be held on April 30th, 2022 at 12:30 at Evergreen Memorial Gardens located at 1101 NE 112th Ave, Vancouver, Washington for family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests making a donation to www.love4luke.org to help support families with pediatric patients. 2 Timothy 4:7-8 "7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 8 Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day-and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing."
