Roxanne Lou Tobin

Roxanne Lou (Durand) Tobin, started her life in Great Bend, Kansas on September 8, 1952 as the daughter of Marvin Lou Durand and Elinor (Demoss) Durand. When Roxanne was very young, her parents started moving the family around the United States so Roxanne's father could follow his career in the car industry. The family moved from Great Bend, Kansas, to Washington State, and from there, journeyed on to California, Florida, and Oregon. Between moves, Roxanne and her family would always return to Washington. Roxanne spent most of her school years in Renton, Washington, where she graduated Hazen High School. After graduation in 1970, Roxanne and her family set out for Salem, Oregon where Roxanne started her employment history as a customer service representative in retail. The Oregon move was short lived when Roxanne's parents decided that Washington was really their home. Back home in Washington, Roxanne worked in theaters and department stores. She enjoyed meeting people and helping others. In her early employment years, Roxanne also established herself as one who could quickly move up by taking every opportunity to train for a position, and at various times, Roxanne took courses throughout her years of employment. Finally, Roxanne made her way to a department store in Edmonds, Washington, where she met the love of her life, Sean Tobin. Sean was Roxanne's manager; he was strongly advised by his own manager to acknowledge the company employee dating policy. Sean refused the policy advice, found true friendship in Roxanne, and fell in true love with Roxanne. They married in 1982, and truly "kept it together" through thick and thin in their life. Roxanne and Sean picked up their Washington Roots, and together made a move to Yukon, Oklahoma, where they continued to live happily ever after for the past two years. Roxanne was compassionate and selfless with a big twist of bubbly on the side. She was always smiling, happy, and laughing even during the worst of times. She always put everyone else before herself and treated everyone like she would want to be treated. Roxanne always loved each of her children unconditionally and without question. She always understood that each of her children were very different in every way and accepted them with style and grace. Roxanne was sassy and classy all at the same time. She enjoyed scrapbooking and spending time with her grandkids and her fur-babies. She liked road trips and got a kick out of people-watching. She found pleasure in tanning and a lot of shopping therapy. Purple was her favorite color, and she found sunflowers, babies' breath, and roses to be a pleasing site in the world around her. Roxanne believed that Jesus was her Savior. In fact, Roxanne felt that the most important moment in life was the moment she made the decision to accept Jesus in her life as her Lord. She looked forward to reuniting with her loved ones, and meeting Jesus in heaven. She cherished an important moment in 1982 when she married Sean, who she considered to be her second savior: he provided her loving shelter in the safety of his arms, and the birth of her 3 children, Jason, Cari, and Toby...Oh and she loved to often think about that special moment of becoming a mamaw x2 with her precious twin grandsons Noah and Caleb. On July 4, 2019, Roxanne Lou Tobin, entrusted her legacy of love and selfless giving will to her family as she completed her journey in this life. Her legacy was also to enjoy life and she taught everyone around her how to enjoy life too. Roxanne is survived by her husband Sean Tobin; sons, Jason Topinka and Toby Tobin, daughter Cari Lange and husband Scott, grandchildren Noah and Caleb Lange, brother Randy Durand and wife Brenda, and sisters Judy Lagozzino and husband Kirk, and Connie Rau. Roxanne is preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Elinor Durand, and brother-in-law, Doug Rau. Roxanne's life will be celebrated in Washington, following her arrival home. A funeral service and gathering are scheduled at 3:00 pm, on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at Evergreen Memorial Gardens Funeral Chapel, 1101 N.E. 112th Avenue, Vancouver, Washington. Entombment will immediately follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Services are entrusted to Smith & Turner Mortuary Yukon, Oklahoma and Evergreen Memorial Gardens Cemetery and Funeral Chapel, Vancouver, Washington.
