Rosalyn M. King

Rosalyn was born in Shelbyville, Indiana, to Cyrus Badgley and Nellie Wharton on August 5th, 1927. She moved to Vancouver, WA in 1956 where she resided for most of her adult life. She spent the last 20 years living in Washougal, WA where she passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on May 4th, 2025 at 97 years old. She married James C. King in 1947 and lovingly raised 7 children together while working at JC Penny. She was a wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, and friend to all who knew her. She never met a stranger and will be remembered for her wonderful smile, warm embracing hugs, sweet laughter, and lighthearted sense of humor that continued until her final days on this earth. She was a homemaker, an excellent seamstress, and liked to craft, crochet and quilt. She was a collector of everything Campbell's soup. Her pie crusts and pinwheels were to die for! She was competitive, and in her spare time she loved all things "games", crossword puzzles, Scrabble, Words with Friends on her iPad, playing card games like Uno, Solitaire, King's Corner, and she was the ultimate SkipBo queen. You would often find her watching Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune or pretty much anything on the Game Show Network. She enjoyed spending time with her "Bunco girls" once a month and their occasional weekend trips to the coast. Rosalyn loved her family dearly; she knew everyone's birthday by memory. She would submit our birthdays to be featured on AM Northwest for a chance to win us a free pizza. Thanks to her, our families won quite a few times. She loved all animals and held a special place in her heart for dachshunds. Rosalyn is survived by 4 of her children, Terry King, Cynthia Elmer, Rebecca Oliver and Sally Fross; her sister Marilyn Loushin; 16 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren. She was blessed to have bonus family members consisting of 6 sons and daughters-in-laws, 9 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 3 great- great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, James C. King; her 3 sons, "Jim" James C. King Jr., Jeffrey King and Lanny King; her stepdaughter, Lynda McDowell; her 2 sisters, Patricia Parks and Barbara Anders. Although we are deeply saddened by her loss, we know she is in good hands with not only the Lord, but all her beloved family and friends who have passed before her. Oh what a reunion that must have been!
