Robert Lee Beatty

Robert "Bob" Lee Beatty passed away at the age of 73 at his home in Vancouver, WA. He was a loving father to Samuel R. Beatty, Sarah K. Hatch, Lori K. Nigro, Shelly A. Beatty, Margot Beatty, Robert L. Beatty Jr. and Jay D. Beatty. In addition he loved his grandchildren: Casey 33 yrs, Crystal 30 yrs, Daniel (deceased in 2001 @14 yrs old), Nicole 25 yrs, Kylie 17 yrs, Brooke 7 yrs, and 4 great grandchildren. Bob was preceded in death by his wife of 20 years, Kathy Beatty, parents Edgar M. Beatty and Gladys F. Beatty, his brothers Don Beatty and Bill Beatty, and his grandson, Daniel Robert Perry. He was survived by all of his children including his brother, Carl Beatty. Not only was he a father figure to many of his nieces and nephews, but many other friends of his children. He made such an impact on these people that the relationships have never been broken. He was always spending his time with his family. Never has there been a more devoted, loving father and grandfather who put his family above all. He loved to play with his grandchildren, no matter what their age. Bob worked very hard to take care of his family; sometimes two or three jobs at a time to make sure they had wonderful Christmas's, birthdays and family vacations. Alone, he gave each of us a wonderful childhood and life long memories. Further, he fixed things for those in need, especially for his sisters-in-law Linda Mersereau and Mickey Madewell. He was a brother to them both. Serving from 1958 to 1964 in the Navy was a source of great pride. He loved to tell stories about it often. He then moved to Oregon and married his first wife Vickie and had three children with her, Margot, Robert Jr. and Jay. He then married the love of his life, Kathy, and moved to Vancouver, WA in 1970 where he has since always resided. Bob retired from Columbia Machine in 2006, where he worked as an electrical engineer for over 25 years. He and his wife Kathy were very involved in the church and had many friends. He belonged to the American Legion. He loved carpentry work. If he wasn't adding a room or remodeling the house, he was completing a smaller project for the kids. In his later years, Bob loved to read spy novels and watch sci-fi movies with his daughter Sarah. He valued the time he spent watching football and golf with his son Samuel. Though he couldn't get out often, he still tried to go his daughter Lori and son in law Nick's house where they would have many family gatherings. He was very excited when his daughter Shelly recently moved back to Vancouver and was able to spend time with her. He really liked to attend church at Faith Center, but in recent years was unable to go because of his health. But the Lord was still very important in his life. He was such a loving, kind, patient, and gentle man. He loved to joke with all the ladies and you could always catch him with a mischievous smile and quick laugh. He made many friends at the retirement homes that he had lived (Arbor Ridge, Bridgewood, Kamlu and finally Pythias Retirement Home). Any friendship that he made was kept and cherished always. There will never be the right words or enough words to even slightly describe the amazing one of a kind person Bob was. But anyone who was blessed to be a part of his life knows there will never be another quite like him. We love you dad, grandpa, uncle, brother, friend and will always remember who you were and all you stood for. Thank you for being the true definition of a man and know your love will always be in our hearts and can't wait until the day we will see you again in our permanent home in heaven. A celebration of Life will be on Monday, August 25th at 12:30 at Evergreen Memoral Gardens. Friends are welcome to join the family after the service at Lori & Nick Nigro's home 12800 NE 20th Street, Vancouver, WA
