Michael Delbert Allen

MICHAEL D. ALLEN May 15, 1941 ~ May 7, 2017 Michael D. Allen passed away on May 7, 2017 at the age of 75. He was born on May 15, 1941 in Everett, WA to J.D. "Del" and E.C. "Corky" Allen. At the age of 4, the family moved to Spokane, WA where he graduated from Lewis and Clark High School. Mike then went on to graduate with a degree in Business Administration from Washington State University. At WSU, he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon, and served as President of the fraternity. After college Mike embarked on a lifetime career in banking commencing in Seattle, WA in 1964 with Seattle First National Bank, which later became Bank of America. He was with that bank for 25-years serving in many capacities, including branch manager positions, commercial loan officer, and regional credit supervisor. Beginning in 1988, he was an executive with Northwest National Bank and was President of that bank during the transition of its sale to U.S. Bank. Since that time, Mike has been a Director of Riverview Community Bank. While on vacation in Acapulco, Mexico in 1969, Mike met the love of his life, Trudy Castanon, and they were married in 1972. In 1974, the family moved to Vancouver, WA. In Vancouver, Mike served on several boards including 10-years on the SW Washington Private Industry Council, 10-years on the Vancouver Housing Authority, the American Cancer Society , the Our Lady of Lourdes School Board, and Kiwanis International. Mike was very involved in youth activities, coaching CYO basketball for 16-years and little league baseball for 5-years. Mike was an avid golfer and longtime member of Royal Oaks Country Club where he served two separate terms as President. Mike is survived by Trudy, his wife of 44-years; two sons, Jeff (Jessica) of Vancouver, WA and Tim (Ana) of Kuwait City, Kuwait; along with five grandchildren, Yvette, Payton, Isaiah, Jordan, and Moiss; his sister, Patty (Walt) Davis in Spokane, WA; and 9 nieces and nephews. His father J.D. Allen and mother E.C. Allen preceded him in death. The funeral Mass is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Church on May 19, 2017, with a Rosary preceding at 9:10 a.m., and reception following the service at Royal Oaks Country Club. In lieu of flowers, at Mike's request the family suggests donations to the Washington State University Athletic Department or the Sister Mary Leona Fund at Our Lady of Lourdes School.
