Marlene M. Mix

Marlene Marie MixBorn in Kalispell, Montana on November 5, 1935 to parents James and Mignon Duffy. She joined her older sister, Clara Mae and both welcomed their brother, Victor, nine years later in 1944. The family moved to North Bend, OR where Marlene attended High School. There she met her soon to be husband, John A. Rose, also of North Bend. The two were married in 1953. In 1954, a son Gerald (Jerry) was born and then 18 months later their son Gary was born. James (Jim) joined the family in 1959.The places she lived in were Kalispell, MT; North Bend, OR; Gold Beach, OR; Libby, MT; Grants Pass, OR; Ashland, OR; Medford, OR; Gold Hill, OR and finally Vancouver, WA where she died on September 14, 2022 at 12:15 am.She was a medical transcriptionist at Rogue Valley Hospital in Medford, Oregon for many years before moving to Rogue Valley Physicians and then became a Collections Manager for Mercy Corps before retiring and moving to Vancouver, WA in 2012.Marlene had a wonderful sense of humor (and a little sass) that endeared her to all who met her. To her friends and family, she kept the conversations lively with her quick wit. She had bright red hair which highlighted her Irish roots. She loved to go to and eventually lead exercise through dance (Jazzercise was her favorite) wherever she lived. At one point, she was leading class five nights a week. She learned to play the organ and piano from her mother and played the drums in her High School band. Her hobbies included travel, and knitting but dancing was her favorite, along with her dachshunds and cats.She is survived by her brother Vic (Vicki) of Kalispell, MO; son, Jerry (Roni) of Seaside, OR; son, Gary (Becky) of Vancouver, WA 10 grandchildren: Dayna (Bob) Steringer of Lake Oswego, OR; Amanda Brynn of Seattle, WA; Melissa(Ryan)Paul of Ridgefield WA, Erin Orton of Williamsville, NY; Isaac (Melia) Rose of Gahanna, OH; Derek Rose of Warrenton, VA; Rachael Darrow of Melbourne, FL; Salina(Josh) Watson of Tucson, AZ; Robyn Gumaer of Las Vegas, NV and Alex Gumaer of Shady Cove, OR. She is also survived by 30 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. Marlene was predeceased by her parents and her son, James, who died in 2003.
