Luella Amanda Vilhauer

Luella A. Vilhauer, 94, of Vancouver, WA, passed away Jan. 31, 2019. She was born Aug. 26, 1924 to August and Maria Rudolf in Wishek, ND where she grew up and attended school through 11th grade. Luella worked in the Kaiser shipyards during WWII along with many family members. She worked at the original iconic Holland restaurant in Vancouver for over 20 years and always took pride in working for George Propstra and working with many fine people there. Later in life, Luella worked for her brother-in-law, Ernie Vilhauer, at Drywall Discount Decorating. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran and Family of Christ Lutheran churches. Luella enjoyed gardening, knitting and playing cards. Her kitchen was always open and welcoming and the coffee ready. She loved a good game of cards, a good joke, a friendly visit and a good rum and coke. Luella lived a full life, had a long marriage and many, many friends. She successfully raised 3 kids who loved her and loved each other dearly. Luella had a positive attitude and was grateful for what she had. She'll be missed by all who knew her. Luella is survived by her last remaining sister, Lorrene Hochhalter; daughters, Sandra Beems and Penni Johnson; son, Dennis Vilhauer (Margie); grandchildren, Jennifer Jarmin (Ron), Trevor Beems, Tiffany Alexander (Marty) and Dylan Welch (Denise); great-grandchildren, Griffin Jarmin, Emily Jarmin, Carson Jarmin, Grace Alexander, Spencer Alexander, Quinton Beems, Morgan Beems and Ada Welch; step-grandchildren, Bobby Johnson, Karen Ann DeTally (John), Lori Roesen, Sandie Anderson, Scott Johnson (Jolene), Jill Mills, Steven Jensen (Vikki) and Monica Carroll (Vince); step-great-grandchildren, Christopher Roesen, Ryder Johnson, Tabitha Johnson, Michael Johnson, Theo DeTally, Jake Jensen, Tori Jensen, Trenton Cook, Seth Mills, Sarah Watson, Wyatt Mills, Hannah Mortenson, Shane Mills and Lacy Cook; her lifelong and dearest friend, Lorene Morgan; her last remaining sister-in-law, Luella Johnson; and many, many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of over 50 years, Quinton Vilhauer; brothers, Alvin Rudolf, Helmuth Rudolf and Paul Rudolf; sisters, Alma Dorr, Esther Brandner, Erna Rata and Mabel Rise Justice; two infant sons, Terry and Lance; 2 sons-in-law, Ronnie O. Beems and Bob Johnson; and one youngest great-grandson, Luke Jensen. A Celebration of Life will be held Sat., Feb. 9, 2019 at 11:30 a.m. at Family of Christ Lutheran Church, 3500 NW 129th St., Vancouver, WA 98685. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or the Family of Christ Lutheran Church. Evergreen Memorial Gardens was entrusted to arrangements.
