John Peter Nein

John Peter Nein, 83, passed from this life on October 29, 2016, In Vancouver, WA. He was born May 6, 1933, in Hawk Springs, WY to Russian immigrants, Peter and Marie (Miller) Nein. He was the sixth child in a family of eight (two girls and six boys). While still a young boy, the family moved to the Vancouver area where they remained. He graduated from Battle Ground High School in 1952. After school, he joined the U.S. Army and served from 1952-1955; part of that time, he was stationed in Germany. Upon his completion of duty, he went to work for Blue Rock Concrete in Washington and retired from there on June 23, 1998. On June 7, 1959, he married his sweetheart, Agnes D. Griffith, and they were blessed by God to have 57 years and 5 months together. God also blessed them with three wonderful sons: Randy, Mark, and Timothy. John had a variety of interests, such as woodworking, building birdhouses, step stools, planters and many other items. He liked being outdoors, gardening, yardwork, working on cars, etc. He, along with his brothers, built the houses he shared with Agnes and their sons, and where she still resides. He enjoyed a variety of music, such as Polka, Cowboy, Country and Western, and Southern Gospel. At the top of the list of what he enjoyed, was being with his family - children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces and nephews. There were many camping adventures and trips to the ocean that will never be forgotten. John was very much loved and appreciated by anyone, who was fortunate to have shared his life and he will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife Agnes, Vancouver, WA; three sons: Randy (Kimberly), Woodland, WA; Mark (Michelle), Sun River, OR and Timothy (Kandi), Vancouver, WA; 11 grandchildren: Kyle, Taylor, Alex, Lindsey, Luke, Santina, MyKayla, Maliyah, McKenzie, Myles, Michael, and several foster children, who also loved and called him Grandpa. Brothers: Harry, Reinholt, Jake, and Bill, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters: Irene Domson and Elizabeth Varney, and one brother, Walter. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Vancouver First Church of God, Sunday, November 13, 2016, at 3:00 PM. A family burial will take place on Monday, November 14, 2016, at 10:00 AM, at Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Vancouver, WA.
