Jessie Caroline Fambrough

JESSIE C. FAMBROUGH 1935-2010 Jessie Fambrough, 75, of Vancouver WA lost her battle with lung cancer on Tuesday, Oct 5, 2010. She was a truly remarkable woman, strong yet gentle, kind and considerate of others. Our social butterfly is now socializing with our family and friends who have gone before her. Jessie was born in Dearborn, MI on May 2, 1935 to Robert and Cleta Dewar. She grew up in Itasca, Texas with her sister, Mary, by her side. While attending college, she married and had four children. She and her husband, Tom, raised the kids in Blue Mound, Texas. In 1977, she and two of her daughters, Laura and Susan, moved to Vancouver, Washington, to be close to her family. She worked for several companies through the years and retired from Pacific Coast Fruit Company in Portland, Oregon. She really enjoyed working for and with the folks at Pacific Coast Fruit. She enjoyed dancing, travelling, and window shopping. She was an expert with crochet hooks! She entered her dolls and blankets in the Clark County fair earning first and second place ribbons for many years. Whatever craft she entered always took home a ribbon. She was preceded in death by her "one and only" son, Vincent, and his wife, Gail, who were both taken by an F4 tornado in Oklahoma last year. She is survived by her children: Kathy Primrose (Bob Hutchins) of Sacramento, CA; Laura Fries (Michael) of Vancouver, WA and Susan Hatfield, of Vancouver WA. She is also survived by her siblings: Edna Goca, Mary Cvek, Pat (Ray) Hodo, Pete (Barbara) Dewar, Ken Dewar, Jim Savage (Elizabeth), and Mickey. Grandchildren: Amy, Adam, Brian Jr, Curtis (CJ), Danna, Kaylee, Krystal, Jesse, and many nieces and nephews. A memorial will be held on Saturday, Nov 6, 2010, at 3 pm at Evergreen Memorial Gardens, 1101 NE 112th Ave, Vancouver WA 98684. In lieu of flowers, please donate in her name to the Ray Hickey Hospice House, 2112 E. Mill Plain Blvd, Vancouver WA 98661. The family would like to say a special thank you to the gentle folks at Ray Hickey for their caring, understanding, and assistance in making our mom, sister, aunt, and grandma comfortable in her final days.
