Darus Stephen Posey

It is with great sadness we say good-bye to our wonderful father, husband, brother, son and friend. Steve passed away here in Vancouver, WA, June 8, after several hard years of Alzheimer's. He is survived by his wife, Constance; sister-in-law, Shirley Hartman; two sons, Ryan J. Posey and Brandon S. Posey; five grandchildren; his brother, Mark Posey and wife Cindie Posey; and one nephew and three nieces. He was a great friend to all and had a very warm, kind loving way about him. He loved to laugh and enjoyed good humor. Some of the greatest laughs and joy came on the golf course with his boys and Mark or golfing with friends; he loved to play hearts with Ryan, Brandon and Mark or pinochle with friends. Those were wonderful times. The hilarious laughter would ring out!He was very social and loved interacting with friends and others. Ryan and Brandon were his greatest loves, and at a young age carted them around in the wheelbarrow, or wrestled with them on the floor. He bought them bicycles, motorbikes, and then skiing over at Mt. Bachelor as they grew up. Steve was athletic, loved sports and watching the boys whether in baseball, basketball, or soccer. Being with them was the best! Steve started his grocery career at the age of 16 as a box boy with Safeway. He ran all the time, seldom walked in the store. He graduated from Fort Vancouver H.S. He received his MBA at USC in Grocery Management and went on to manage various grocery stores with Safeway. In May of 1978 he and his partner, Dick Ballew, teamed up and bought the U-Markit store in Hazeldell. In the years that followed they bought several more stores and changed the name to 'Dick and Steves Grocery Co'. They sold those and bought a Food 4 Less store on 82nd & Powell. After many good years, Food 4 Less was sold in 1995. Steve went on to get his license in Real Estate and did that for the next several years. Steve and his wife, Constance, attended Grace 4 Square until Steve became sick. Steve had a true love for his Lord and he is in God's Presence today. We are so thankful to know we will see him again, that this separation is just for a while, like walking through a door. A Memorial Service will be held at Grace 4 Square, 717 NE Everett St., Camas, WA 98607, Friday, June 25, at 2 p.m.
