Carolyn Kay White

Carolyn Kay White, 74, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2026, in Vancouver, Washington, surrounded by her loving family. Born on March 18, 1952, in Vancouver, Washington, to Robert and Delores Grubb, Carolyn spent her childhood in Portland, Oregon. She later married Richard White, and together they built a life in Vancouver, where they raised their three children: Scott, Joseph (Diane), and Sarah (Bobby). Carolyn was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, teacher, and friend whose warmth, humor, and love for family touched everyone who knew her. She found joy in gardening, crafts, family camping adventures, and beach trips. Her annual Fourth of July barbecues and legendary pumpkin carving parties became beloved family traditions. A passionate advocate for early childhood education, Carolyn attended college courses in the field and spent many years as a preschool teacher at St. Andrews Preschool. She formed lifelong friendships there and positively influenced countless children and families. Two of her own grandchildren had the special privilege of having her as their teacher and lovingly called her “Teacher Grandma.” Carolyn was known as the "life of the party" and was always ready with a joke, a laugh, or a smile. Many of her nieces and nephews affectionately referred to her as the “fun aunt.” She treasured annual family trips to the Long Beach Kite Festival, girls getaways to the beach and wine country, and time spent at her cabin on Lake Merwin. Music was a constant part of her life, and she could often be found humming or dancing along to a favorite tune. Her Christian faith was a cornerstone of her life and brought her great comfort and strength. She also dearly loved her little dog, Gracie, who remains in the loving care of her son Joe and daughter-in-law Diane. Carolyn is survived by her children, Scott, Joseph (Diane), and Sarah (Bobby); her siblings, Danny (Lynn), Rose (Ron), Sue (Rick, deceased), and Roberta; and by the family of her late brother, Terry (Laura); her six grandchildren, Nichole (Phil), Jaime (Jon), Casey, Bailey (John), Roman, and Clara; and her five great-grandchildren, Ryder, Colbie, Wynn, Ashton, and Rainn, who affectionately knew her as “GG.” She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great- nieces, great-nephews, and dear friends. Carolyn's legacy of love, laughter, faith, and family will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, the Humane Society, or organizations supporting stroke research. A graveside service will be held at Evergreen Memorial Gardens at 2:00 PM on Saturday, June 27, 2026. A Celebration of Life will follow at 3:00 PM at Joe & Diane White’s home.
